Picaboo makes it very easy to create a nice looking photo book really easy. The major advantage of using Picaboo is you download and install (takes less than 5 mins) the photo book software on your computer. That way you have access to all your photos while making a photobook. This helps in comparison to other photobook services which are 100% online and you will need to upload photos before you start making photo books.
The picaboo software is easy to use, intuitive, uncluttered, comes with many design features.
Once you create a New photobook, you will be asked to select the photos to be used in the album. You can select photos from your C: drive or external drives like a flash drive or from a camera (after attaching the camera to the computer).
A word of caution – Do not do a “select all” if you have too many pictures on your computer. It will slow things down. Take some time and select the pictures you will like to have in the photobook. If you miss a few, you can go back add them anytime.
Once you have the photos selected, it will ask how you will like to create your new photo book. I preferred “From Scratch” option as it gives you all the artistic license to design your photo book. And you will like it. The “Auto” option is too boring.
Once your blank photo book gets created, you will see all the thumbnails of your selected photos at the bottom.
Andnow the fun begins.
You may choose from a dozen or more book styles, hundreds of page layouts, many backgrounds, add corners, add captions.
Most of these features are further customizable and you won’t feel limited in any way while creating an photo book. Use your photos as page backgrounds, add photos to the pages, change their layour by resizing, tilting. Add captions stylized with fonts. You can do a story flow, sort pages.
Ordering
Once you are perfectly happy with your masterpiece, you can place the order with a click of a button, at which point your photos will be transferred to Picaboo servers. You will need to be connected to the internet while ordering.
This may take some time depending on how many photos you have in the photo book. So be a little patient. You will also need to sign in or sign up with a user id/password while ordering.
Once you get past the sign in and upload, the ordering process is simple and is done from within the picaboo software.
Quality of Photobooks
The paper quality of the photobooks are very good. Keep it mind the picture depends on the original photo quality. So use only high resolution photos. There are different type of covers that you can choose for your photo book. The price of your photobook will depend on the kind of the cover you choose.
