User Interface

The entire interface is web based. so it can be good thing (nothing to install) or a bad thing (can be slow)

Pixable is photo book service more tuned towards social media.

Now a days you have photos in your facebook, flickr, picassa albums. You have already uploaded the photos. Pixable helps you create a photo book from the photos in your social media accounts. You may upload photos from your pc too. But we got a feeling the interface and everything is aligned towards social media.

The one advantage of using Pixable is there is no software to install and if you choose there is no photos to upload, both will save you time.  You have access to all your social media photos while making a photobook.

This may not be helpful if you don’t have all/most of your photos in social media sites.

Pixable is easy to use. If you can use facebook, flickr or picassa you can use Pixable. Plus there is a demo that you can take when you start creating an album. It will show you all the things you can do to create an album and how to do it.

Now let’s look at some of the features of the Pixable photobook software and how you may use it.

Layouts

Around 20 layouts are available interface. You can have 1 to 6 pictures per page. Choose a predefined layout or just drop your photos and re-size, rotate, position them and create your own custom layout.

Photo Options

You can choose photo borders, color of the border, shadow. You can choose a setting for the border and apply to all the photos in the album or to just one photo.

You can layer or stack photos. You can rearrange how the photos are layered by sending the photo to the back or to the front.

Backgrounds

There are many themes to choose a background. You can apply a certain background to all the pages of the photo book or you can choose different background for different pages.

What we didn’t like is that you can’t use one of your pictures to be the background.

Adding Text

Adding text to the pages easy. But only 8 fonts are available. So your choicest font may not be there. Color and size of text can be changed.

Text blocks can be rotated, repositioned, resized or deleted exactly like the pictures.

Ordering

Once you are done with all the editing you can preview your photobbok yourself  or you can share it with your friends by posting it in facebook. You can post your photobook as a web album in facebook even before you place an order.

This is something we liked about Pixable. You can create as many photo books as you like and publish them online without having to place an order.

Once you are ready to order, the ordering process is pretty easy. No surprises there.

Quality of Photobooks

The paper quality of the photobooks is good. We ordered a soft cover photobook. The quality is good for the price, but not excellent.

Overall Experience

Pixable is recommended for its social media integration, ability to post web albums and ease of use
